Saturday morning I got up at 7:30. Stephen, Andy, Jesse, and I had planned on touring the city via the public transit. Since I was up early I passed the time by watching Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho. I got to about 20 minutes from the end when I had to leave. I walked over to the U6 line where we were all going to meet. Eventually Andy showed up and then Stephen and Jesse arrived on the U6 about 10 minutes later.
We toured around eventually ending at Schwedenplatz near the first district. We walked a bit and then started asking for Cafe Central. We had learned about it the day before on our city tour. It is a famous cafe where such people as Adolf Hitler, Vladimir Lenin, and Sigmund Freud. So, naturally we wanted to go. I ended up asking a store manager for directions, which he gladly (and clearly) gave and we headed on our way.
Once we got to the Cafe we were seated immediately. I ordered potato cream soup and a glass of tap water. We sat and ate for about an hour and a half. When we did end up leaving there was a line out the door to get in for lunch!
We followed lunch by walking over to the Rathaus (city hall). In front they had a big ice skating park with three rinks that were all connected by frozen over trails. We walked around there for a bit then decided that we’d go home to grab our grocery bags (you have to bring your own) and then meet back at the Westbahnhof to go grocery shopping. We started at Hofer (the Austrian Aldi) and I stocked up on the essentials being yogurt, rice, ham, bread, and breakfast bars.
Once our shopping was done we all headed back home to put stuff away before we met at the Central College office. I went there with Andy and he and I had dinner. I had a ham sandwich and then a raspberry jam sandwich. We went into the main room and I fiddled around with the TV to see how it worked. Stephen, Jesse, and Paithan came about 15 minutes later and we started watching Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl in German. I made peppermint tea and popcorn and worked on my journal.
Halfway through the movie Jesse and Paithan left with Andy to go to a party outside of the city. I stayed and ended up skyping with Kels for about an hour. Stephen left when the movie was done to go home to Skype with his parents. I cleaned up my dishes, packed up, and left. When I got home I took my usual shower and headed to bed.
