Sunday was once again a follow up day of the opera workshop. I got up in time and got to Alexander's office around 10:00. I was surprised that he wasn't answering on the buzzer, but then I remembered that we weren't supposed to be there until 10:30 so I went for a walk and found a park nearby. I sat down on a bench and listened to my music. All of a sudden a small dog came trotting along and hopped up on the bench that I was on. It proceeded to hop into my lap too. I laughed and then picked it up and put it on the ground. Its owner, a 60-ish woman, said that she was sorry and that she hoped that her dog didn't get me too dirty. I said that it wasn't a problem at all. She and the dog left and I decided to head back to Alexander's office. On the way there I noticed little muddy paw prints on my sports jacket, but I didn't mind.
Once the others got there we started learning about Schönberg who introduced the use of free-tonal music. This meant that he used every note in a scale and every other note in-between. It was interesting listening to his music, not because it necessarily sounded good, but rather that it was a new sound.
After the workshop Alexander gave us our tickets for Wozzeck, the show we were going to see at the Staatsoper and we headed to the Pizzeria next door. We all ordered pizzas and I got mine with mushrooms. We spent the time refueling for the upcoming opera. After we were finished we all took the train to the Staatsoper. We found our assigned seats and settled in.
The opera, whose music was also composed by Schöberg, was very interesting. I'll still say that I'll take a good old musical any day of the week, but it was a good experience for sure. After the performance Janaya, Andy, and I decided that we'd head back to the dorm and cook dinner together so we did just that. We had discussed The Incredibles at some point earlier in the day so I invited them both to my room to watch the movie. We put a mattress on the floor and the three of us watched the movie. It was a blast!
Afterwards, the others headed back to their rooms and I headed to bed.
